Dear Creator Letter, Yuletide 2022

Dear Yuletide writer,

Thank you for writing for me!

I am excited for whatever you give me, but here are some general things I like and some of the reasons I chose the fandoms/pairings for Yuletide.

Things I like: romance, pining, found families, humor, loyalty, competency kink, characters being careful with each other’s feelings, characters learning about each other and growing, characters supporting each other in things they want to achieve or in growing to be a better person, angst followed by happy endings. I enjoy explicit and mature content for my ships, but there is no expectation for it.

Things I don’t want: A/B/O, mpreg, cruelty, non-con or dub con scenarios, pain in sexual encounters, sad or bittersweet endings.  I’m also not really into stories about proposals or marriage as the epitome of romance.

 

Fandom: ทริอาช | Triage: The Series (Thailand TV 2022) 

Characters: Tol Aekkarin Wijitkul and Tin Sukprasert

Details: Tol and Tin’s ending is hard won. I love the entire theme of the show - that what you do matters, that trying matters and that your efforts can be rewarded. It was something I needed when I watched it and I am very attached to it. I love that they both can be awkward and inept in different ways, but ultimately match each other with their level of heart and caring. 

Prompt ideas - Tin and Tol have been through so much. I would love to see something post-canon where they get to be a little more lighthearted. I like the idea of Tin being kinda awkward romantically and trying to do things for Tol that don’t quite work out, but again, it’s about the effort and it all works out in the end. 

I’ve also written some one shots for this pairing on AO3 that would give a good indication of what I like.

 

Fandom: 스물다섯 스물하나 | Twenty Five Twenty One (TV) 

Characters: Na Heedo and Baek Yijin

Details: I say I don’t like bittersweet endings, but in this case, it is the exception that proves the rule. I loved these two characters and how they found each other when they most needed each other, supported and loved each other, and even if life got in the way, still had deep feelings for each other and how they impacted each other’s life.

 

Prompt ideas - All the above said, I would love to get an AU of a reunion with them. After a little time, them meeting up again when their professional goals no longer conflict and they are mature enough to reconnect. The goal of the original story is about the importance of those who you meet along the way, but the problem for me with that ending is that Na Heedo and Baek Yijin had something special that most of us hope for - a deeper connection and understanding of each other and obviously I would prefer that work out.

 

Fandom:  Old Fashion Cupcake (TV) 

Characters: Nozue Sanae and Togawa Minoru

Details: Togawa and Nozue’s story is one that is basically perfection. As with most people, it was only too short. But without other characters’ plots, it really spent its time on the two of them and their dance of testing each other and getting closer. I love their banter, the way they laugh with each other, the fact that they are talkers and are likely to talk about anything and everything, even when they are in intimate moments. The little post-canon scene made me want more of them even then. 

Prompt ideas - For them I think I’d like to see more post-canon scenes of them growing together as a couple, maneuvering the daily things that can be hard between two people, especially with Nozue and his insecurities and what it means to get closer to someone in that way.

I’ve also written some one shots for this pairing on AO3 that would give a good indication of what I like.

 

Fandom:  쓸쓸하고 찬란하神 - 도깨비 | Goblin (TV) 

Characters: Kim Shin | Goblin and Wang Yeo | Grim Reaper

Details: I was one of the people who watched this and shipped Goblin and Reaper. I think their relationship was really engaging and their care and respect for each other was earned well. I wasn’t as convinced about their separate relationships, although I liked them enough and am happy to respect them.

Prompt ideas - The one idea I haven’t been able to get out of my head is a fic that shows what happens when Eun Tak no longer reincarnates and completes her final life and Goblin turns to Reaper for support in his grief. Through that grief and connection, their relationship grows to more and romance starts.
